For The Love Of Hockey

FOR THE LOVE OF HOCKEY

Since I have a hockey lovin’ family and live where it’s cold in the winter, I have watched a lot of hockey … and when play-offs happen, it ups the anti.

It almost seems like players and coaches are starting a new season.

For the love of hockey, the Stanley Cup is the coveted prize. Winning the “Cup” is on the minds of amateur and professional hockey players alike; the first cup looking somewhat like a silver punch bowl!

After 80 plus regular season games and 2 months of rivalry playoff games, the last competition is often a 7th final game.

Clearly, in all my years of watching hockey, I’ve never seen a player quit and skate off the ice. I’ve never heard one say, “too hard, too much, I can’t take it, I’m done with hockey”.

For the love of hockey and competition; they keep going.

For the “joy of the win”, they don’t quit.

Perhaps you are overwhelmed today as you try to “win” at your life’s journey. Maybe you are trying to keep your home together, or fighting through an illness or waiting for a prodigal to come to their senses …. and you just feel like quitting altogether.

Giving up.

Allow me to encourage you – keep “skating” as it were. Keep lacin’ ‘em up.

Keep standing – up.

“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength”. Philippians 4:13

Did you notice that verse says “everything”?

So what is it today that is holding you back from believing for an answer to prayer? Has God not proven Himself over and over again that He’s a good Father?

Talk things over with Him today. Be honest with God.

Draw near to Him and He’ll draw near to you.

Ask for new hope to stay in the game.

Don’t quit.

It’s in you to make it.

“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him …” Psalm 42:11

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take”. Proverbs 3:5,6

 Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I sure feel like quitting. I just can’t take the pressure anymore. I see from reading this post that you will help me. You will give me strength to keep in the game. I’m asking for courage to keep going”.
