So Great A Price

So Great A Price - Easter

So Great A Price

I watched with fascination a documentary on lions. In particular, a pride of starving lions. They had encircled quite a group of elephants and were staring down their supper – their babies …  baby elephants.

The grown elephants growled, roared and kicked up clouds of dust. In an attempt to ward of the lions, they created a huge ruckus. Corralling their little ones in the middle of the pack, they kept circling, trying to hide them, protect them, save them.

Sadly, the louder the elephants, the more aggressive the lions. There had been a drought in the desert for many months which caused the entire animal kingdom to go mad.

What I saw next I’ll never forget.

Suddenly, without warning, a full-grown elephant broke ranks and ran, triggering all the lions to violently pursue. Within a minute, the elephant’s life was poured out, while all the other elephants ran free.

In a parallel sort of way, and respectfully – Easter week reminds me of this story.

To save others, one had to sacrifice his life.

Jesus said,

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep”. John 10:11

For me. A sinner. An undeserving sinner.

Jesus is truly the Good Shepherd.

He willingly laid down His life for you and me.

This Easter remember Him.

He remembered us.

At such a price.

An unspeakable cost.

We remember You, Lord Jesus.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16

During this Easter week, I encourage you to slowly read the Easter story. Here are 4 references; Matthew 26-28, Mark 14-16, Luke 22-24, John 17-21.

Today’s Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I wished they had of been another way to redeem mankind – but there wasn’t. Thank you for providing a bridge through Jesus, so I can come to you a Holy God. Thank you”.
